Project Overview
FoodTorrentz is a complete digital solution that helps food businesses across Africa — restaurants, chop bars, bakers, home cooks, caterers, and street vendors — create beautiful digital menus, accept orders, and manage their operations from one simple platform.
The platform allows customers to scan a QR code and instantly access a business’s menu on their phone (no app download required), place orders for pickup, delivery, or dine-in, and pay via Mobile Money or card.
The Challenge
Food businesses in Ghana and across Africa faced several problems:
- Reliance on printed menus that are expensive to update
- Difficulty accepting online orders without complex apps
- Poor customer experience due to unstable internet and high data costs
- Fragmented tools for ordering, kitchen management, and payments
- Lack of local payment options and relevant features for the African market
Project Goals
- Build an affordable, easy-to-use platform tailored for African food sellers
- Eliminate the need for customers to download apps
- Support local payment methods (MTN, Vodafone, AirtelTigo) using Paystack
- Create delightful, mobile-first experiences for both vendors and customers
- Offer a generous free plan to lower the barrier to entry

Some Considerations
- Designing for unreliable internet connectivity (offline functionality)
- Creating interfaces simple enough for non-tech-savvy food vendors
- Balancing rich visuals with fast performance
- Making complex order management feel straightforward
Results and Impact
FoodTorrentz has become a practical solution for hundreds of food businesses in Ghana and beyond:
- Frictionless customer experience - Scan OR -> View menu -> Order Instantly
- Operational efficiency with kitchen display and analytics
- Lower barrier to entry with a string free forever plan
