Project Overview
aiHRly is a modern Applicant Tracking System (ATS) designed to help HR teams and hiring managers streamline recruitment. I led a comprehensive redesign of the existing platform to transform it from a cluttered, outdated interface into a clean, visual, and highly efficient recruitment tool.
The redesign focused on improving usability, visual clarity, and overall user satisfaction while maintaining all core functionality.
The Challenge
The previous version of aiHRly suffered from:
- Outdated and cluttered interface with poor visual hierarchy
- Hard-to-follow recruitment pipeline
- Overwhelming candidate profiles with too much information
- Weak analytics and reporting dashboards
- High cognitive load for daily users (HR managers and recruiters)
Project Goals
- Modernize the entire user interface while preserving existing features
- Introduce a visual Kanban-style recruitment pipeline
- Simplify candidate management and profile views
- Create a more insightful and beautiful analytics dashboard
- Improve overall speed and delight of the hiring workflow
- Make the platform more intuitive for both technical and non-technical users
Design Process
I started with a full audit of the existing platform, user interviews (simulated), and competitor analysis. The new design direction emphasized clarity, calm colors (purple/teal accents), generous whitespace, and strong visual feedback.
Key Design Improvements:
- Replaced dense tables with scannable cards and Kanban columns
- Introduced color-coded stages and match percentages
- Redesigned candidate profiles with better information architecture
- Created a more actionable and personalized dashboard
- Improved filter systems and quick actions
Results & Impact
The redesign significantly improved the platform’s usability and appeal:
- Much cleaner and more modern interface that feels premium
- Better hiring visibility through the Kanban pipeline
- Faster candidate evaluation with improved profiles and match scoring
- Stronger analytics for data-driven decision making
Reflection & Learnings
Redesigning aiHRly taught me how to respectfully evolve an existing product while dramatically improving the experience. It reinforced the value of visual hierarchy, progressive disclosure, and reducing cognitive load in enterprise tools.
